Community Centres

Support to help you settle into your community

Multicultural Community Centres provide a range of services within the Intensive English Centres at Koondoola, Primary School, Nollamara Primary School and Thornlie Primary School. If you are from those schools or from the surrounding primary and high schools, you can seek help at the Centres.

They can provide:

  • culturally appropriate and holistic settlement services for students and their families from refugee backgrounds
  • case management, outreach and group work to support families to navigate their new lives in Australia and connect with the wider community
  • support with health, housing, education, employment, and integrating into local communities
  • student after-school and school holiday programs to help settle into living in Australia
  • English classes, education and information sessions to help parents find and access a range of supports and services.

To support migrant women who face barriers to employment, education and wellbeing, the Multicultural Community Centres run digital literacy project in partnership with Good Things Foundation. And importantly they also provide safe social spaces for women to do cooking, art and craft to share their cultures and find new friends and feel connected in the community. Free child minding and transport are offered to ensure all families in the community can attend the many programs on offer.
